SolarAtticAs the cost of energy continues to escalate, swimming pool owners are turning green to make their pools more efficient and less costly to heat. During 2008, An innovative solar technology called SolarAttic has experienced an outstanding 200% increase in sales for its alternative energy pool heater that reclaims and uses attic.

Ed Palmer, SolarAttic’s CEO said: “With the high costs of pool heating, we believe many pool owners are now wondering how they will able to afford to heat their pools to the warmth they’ve become accustomed to. Pool owners can expect to pay up to $500.00 or more per month to heat an average size pool. These high energy costs now have consumers seeking out green alternative energy solutions like our PCS2 pool heater.”

SolarAttic has patented technology that recovers solar heat from attics to heat swimming pools. How it works is easy to understand. The existing pool pump sends the pool water to a simple air-to-liquid heat exchanger located in the attic. The heat exchanger design eliminates the condenser and chemicals commonly found in heat pumps. As a result, the unit operates at 1/10th the monthly costs when compared to a heat pump. A fan pulls the hot attic air into a water coil, heating up the pool water. By utilizing the heat from the attic, the home cools down causing less demand on the air conditioner. [SolarAttic]
